sidebells penstemon, Penstemon secundiflorus
Sidebells may have been the flower that caught my eye and had us pulling over at this spot. One of the really outstanding members of the penstemon clan, and it's a pretty outstanding clan. It's also called pride of the mountain, and has caught the eye of gardeners. It makes an eye catching addition to a dry spot in your garden. Have I said sidebells is eye catching? It grows in dry mostly open areas of CO, NM, and WY. Lake Co CO, 620/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
