Fraser fir, Abies fraseri
Here's the soon-to-be cone of a Fraser fir. I saw a lot of Fraser's yesterday working the Christmas tree lot for Civitan. Civitan of Lenawee supports services for developmentally disabled people, particularly the Hope Center and Special Olympics. So if you're close to Adrian, it's a great place to get a tree. We're on US-223 at the south edge of Adrian Mall. A much easier way to see a Fraser's than looking for it in its limited range in GA, NC, TN, and VA. Civitan has a great selection of trees; four kinds of fir, two spruce, and Scotch pine. Image from Hidden Lake Gardens, Lenawee Co MI, 5/8/15.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
