orange-eye butterflybush, Buddleja davidii
Almost every gardener knows butterfly-bushes. Their eyes are there for our eyes. Literally. Showy flowers like this exist to please the eye. Of course, they're much more interested in engaging pollinator eyes than they are in interacting with us. But it pays off both ways. We gardeners, much to the benefit of bushes and butterflies, have now made this a common, or even invasive presence all around the world. With us butterfly-bushes have gone wild in CA, CT, GA, HI, IA, KY, MA, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, VA, WA, WV, and BC. Its invasive in OR and WA. My garden, 7/25/11.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
