silverweed, Potentilla anserina
There is a folk tale that as Christ walked the land, silverweed grew in His footsteps. Likely true, because it was already there. The plant trails along the ground, with leaves and flowers at the nodes of the stem. The underside of the leaves are bright silvery white. It grows around the northern hemisphere in sandy or gravelly places such as shores and roadsides. Here it's found in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, IA(T), ID, IL, IN(T), MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA(T), RI, SD, TN, SD, TN, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, in all provinces, and on SPM. Mackinac Co MI, 7/12/11.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
