false spiraea, Sorbaria sorbifolia
Sooner or later I just had to post this image. I really enjoy it. False spiraea flowers grow in great big, maybe six inch, bunches. Then it turns out that individually, up close, they're even more fun to see. This east Asia alien has now landed in AK, CT, IA, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, TN, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and YT. Lenawee Co MI, 6/24/12.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
