spotted Joe-pye-weed, Eutrochium maculatum
I spotted this Joe-pye-weed (sorry, but you know by now I just can't help it) along a road west of here. What a nice patch. I've been partial to Joes since I was a kid and used the hollow stem pea shooters of a related species to harass my sister. So, sorry again, Gail. This one grows in damp spots in AZ, CO, CT, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY(X), MA, MD(X), ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and on SPM. Lenawee Co MI, 7/30/10.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
