spotted Joe-pye-weed, Eutrochium maculatum

I spotted this Joe-pye-weed (sorry, but you know by now I just can't help it) along a road west of here. What a nice patch. I've been partial to Joes since I was a kid and used the hollow stem pea shooters of a related species to harass my sister. So, sorry again, Gail. This one grows in damp spots in AZ, CO, CT, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY(X), MA, MD(X), ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, SK, and on SPM.
