fen willow-herb, Epilobium leptophyllum
This willow-herb is also called bog or narrow-leaf. The flowers are about an inch long. They're widespread and common, but always fun to spot because there never seems to be very many of them anywhere the grow. And because if you see it that means you're slogging a bog or fen! I know they grow at Ives, but I can't remember seeing any for years. It grows in AK, AL, CA, CO, CT, DE, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, TN(T), UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, NT, ON, PE, QC, SK, and on SPM. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
