foxglove beardtongue, Penstemon digitalis
This is one of the most widespread of our many penstemons. But not quite widespread enough for the Ives Fen Preserve crew. This was added to the preserve in one of the areas where farm fields were replanted with natives. Foxglove beardtongue grows in fields in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI(S), SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, MB, NS, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 6/15/11.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
