shining ladies'-tresses, Spiranthes lucida

When I see these shining ladies, I always remember the first time I saw them. Back in the 70's I took a short walk behind our office in Adrian. There they were, in a low spot near the creek. Fun to see a listed species right here in town. The next weekend we left for two weeks in Colorado. When we got back, the orchids had been replaced with bulldozers. But since then enough of these have been found around Michigan that they've been taken off our list. These little orchids are still protected in a number of other places. Shining ladies'-tresses grow in AL, AR, CT, DE, IA(E), IL(E), IN(R), KS, KY(T), MA, MD(E), ME(T), MI, MO, NC, NE, NH(T), NJ, NY(V), OH, PA, RI(X), TN(T), VA, VT, WV, NB, NS, ON, and QC(L). Bob,
your photo of the shining ladies'-tresses is impressive. Perfect exposure, whites are not blocked up, rich blacks, perfect focus and the depth of field is exceptional.
