Spanish needles, Bidens alba

I'm kind of fond of this pest. Like other Bidens, it has barbed seeds that will follow you around. But when I go south in the winter, this is always one of the first signs that I'm back in flower country. In this shot you can see a flower head at the top beginning to develop the barbed seeds typical of the genus. The white rays are not typical; most species are entirely yellow, and many do not have rays. I was going to avoid it, but I guess I should say these are commonly called beggarticks like their relatives. They grow in AL, CT, FL, GA, HI(hitched a ride!), LA, MA, MO, NC, NM, PA, and SC. 10/19/15, Wakulla Co FL.
