sweetbrier, Rosa rubiginosa
A sweetbrier is a sweetbrier is a sweetbrier? Doesn't have the same cachet, does it. What the plant does have is an intriguing pungent aroma quite different from other roses. Sometimes compared to the scent of apple, I find it more unique. I can never pass one without pinching off a leaflet and taking a sniff. You might pass one of these Eurasians in any state except AK, AZ, FL, HI, ND, NM, NV, and SD, and in BC, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, and QC, or on any other continent except of course Antarctica. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
