soapweed, Yucca glauca
Pretty enough? Yes, but you haven't really seen it yet. And neither have I! Now that I know yuccas open up, don their perfume, and have wild flower parties at night, the next trip west will be different. Nights will never be the same! I hope they let party crashers bring their cameras. It would be fun to catch some of those night pollinating moths in action too. Soapweed grows in AR, CO, IA, KS, MO, MT, ND, NE, NM, OK, SD, TX, WY, and AB. Sedgwick Co CO, 6/16/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
