tall meadow-rue, Thalictrum pubescens

You have to revere Linnaeus' technical acumen. Recognizing the similarities between yesterday's rue anemone and this is a good trick. First of all, no petals. Then, rue anemone gets maybe a foot tall. Tall meadow-rue grows up to three meters! Entirely different gestalt! Lastly, rue anemone has both sexes in the same flowers. Here, they're on separate plants. These stamens are about a half inch long. The buttercup family at it's creative best, and we didn't even change genus. This sure doesn't look like a buttercup. Tall meadow-rue grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IL, IN(T), KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV, NB, NS, ON, PE, QC, and on SPM(I love adding the "and on SPM".
