woolly plantain, Plantago patagonica
How long have we been seeing all those boring, petal-free plantains sprout from the lawn? Isn't it fun to see one that came up with an actually interesting way to catch our eye? But these natives annuals just aren't that cooperative. They grow in drier open areas or open woods in AR, AZ, CA, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM. NV, NY, OH(E), OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, AB, BC, MB, SK, and, yes, south to Patagonica. Lincoln Co NE, 6/15/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
