Canada violet, Viola canadensis
Canada is one of our more dramatically colored native violets. The face of the flower if so clearly marked with a target, and directions should the pollinator need to read them. The backs of the petals are a pretty pastel purple. This image is Viola canadensis, var. canadensis, and grows in woods in AL, CT(T), DE, GA, IL(E), IN, KY, MA, MD, ME(E), MI, NC, NH, NJ(T), NY, OH, PA, RI(X), SC, TN, VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, NS, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/16/11.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
