red sand-spurrey, Spergularia rubra
Red sand-spurrey is one more little pink blossom you might find in your lawn, or along a road. For some random reason, I've most often seen it at freeway rest areas. We should probably stop meeting like that. This Old World flower can now be seen in open, often slightly damp areas in AK, AL, CA, CO, CT, DE, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WY, BC, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, YT, and on SPM. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
