western rockjasmine, Androsace occidentalis
Rockjasmines are delicate pretty little plants in the primrose family. Western's flowers are less than a quarter inch across. It was fun to see them in Colorado. Back in Michigan they're so rare I wouldn't likely find them even if I tried. It hasn't been seen here since 1931. Western rockjasmine grows in mountain meadows and at lower altitudes in dry open areas in AR, AZ, CA, CO, IA, ID, IL, IN(T), KS, MA, MI(E), MN, MO, MT, ND, NM, OH(T), OK, SD, TX, UT, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, ON, and SK. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
