showy milkwort, Polygala grandiflora
Showy? Grand flowered? Sometimes the names seem a little curious. These are far from the showiest or grandest milkworts as originally seen. The flowers are only a quarter inch across. A brief time on the net and you can see what the gardeners have done with this. It becomes a much larger and showier shrub. There's some confusion with P. violacea, which some botanists combine with P. grandiflora. These can be seen in open, sometimes disturbed areas in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, and SC. The red clay of Morton Co GA makes an unusual background. 7/7/18.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
