bushy seaside tansy, Borrichia frutescens
Part of the appeal of these seaside tansies is the pale fuzzy leaves. It's a little hard to picture putting that fuzz in your mouth, but many have. In more needy times, these were a popular green and vegetable. Seaside tansies are salt loving, and can mostly be seen close to the shore. This one was near Flamingo Key in the Everglades. They grow in AL, FL, GA, LA, MD(X), MS, NC, SC, TX, VA, and south to the Yucatan. Miami-Dade Co FL, 3/21/16.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
