crested floatingheart, Nymphoides cristata
Oops! When the random selection came up floatingheart, I began looking up lore. And became suspicious. How did I get a picture of our native species farther south than it is supposed to be? I didn't. Another misidentification. This turns out to be crested rather than little floating heart. Most unfortunately, it's an Eurasian invasive. It's starting to choke waterways where it appears in FL and SC. Big Cypress National Preserve, Collier Co FL, 1/25/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
