rough cinquefoil, Potentilla norvegica
Rough cinquefoil is one of those plants that follows us around. It doesn't mind being called a weed as long as it's got a nice clear spot to sink its roots. So what did this native do before we started cutting and plowing? It followed Mother Nature around to washes and burns. Any place where she needs a new start. Rough cinquefoil grows in every state except FL, HI, LA, and MS, in every province, in GL, and on SPM. It's also an Eurasian native, and has followeed us to South America and New Zealand. All of those places now have a mixture of American and Eurasian plants. Lenawee Co MI, 8/4/11.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
