roundpod St. John's-wort, Hypericum cistifolium
In general usage we kind of assume Hypericum is the plant that produces the common herbal pick-me-up. But there are 490 species of Hypericum, only one of which produces that treatment. That one is a Eurasian native, Hypericum perforatum, and is now common here. Roundpod is a small shrubby relative, native to southeastern damp soils. This species shows promise as an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. Extracts have been shown to inhibit staph. Roundpod can be seen in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TX. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
