king's crown, Rhodiola integrifolia
King's crown, western roseroot, or ledge stonecrop? Take your pick. And pick it the Eskimo do. It's eaten green, cooked, or it's preserved for later. Subspecies leedyi grows only in MN and NY and is federally threatened. Except for the disjunct eastern plants, king's crown grows in alpine and boreal areas in AK, CA, CO, ID, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY, AB, BC, NT, and YT; northeastern Asia. San Juan Co CO, 6/22/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
