coatbuttons, Tridax procumbens
Coatbuttons! Eeeekk!! This little plant, originally from Central America, is a federally listed noxious weed. Coatbuttons get about a foot tall, with flower heads hardly a half inch across. It is only known from tropical areas. It is listed as a class A noxious weed by AL, NC, and VT, a prohibited noxious weed by MN, a noxious weed in FL, quarantined by CA and OR, prohibited by MA, and is a plant pest in SC. So far they have been been found in FL, HI, and TX. Way to get ahead of the problem, guys! Polk Co FL, 3/19/16.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
