St. Peter's-cross, Hypericum crux-andreae
You will immediately notice that this Hypericum has four petals. Well, you should have! Species with four were segregated into a different genus, Ascyrum, until modern methods caught up to them. Now they're just the first key to identification of St. John's-worts. The Choctaw used decoctions of St. Peter's-wort to treat colic and sore eyes. This small shrub grows in AL, AR, DE, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Polk Co FL, 3/18/16.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
