northern heart-leaf aster, Symphyotrichum ciliolatum
When I set out for the north, I had two asters in mind. The longleaf we saw two days ago, and this heartleaf. By noon I had seen them both - two that you won't see much of if you get very far under the bridge. This was practically under the bridge. There's a nice flat running west from the bridge where you can get a first look at Upper Peninsula flora. Northern heart-leaf grows in IL, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NH(T), NY(E), SD, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, NB, NF, NS, NT, ON, PE, QC, YT, and SK. Mackinac Co MI, 8/10/19.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
