jimsonweed, Datura stramonium
Last week I drove by a field with a lot of jimson. Jimsonweed flowers are only fully open at night. They're three to four inches long. Very attractive, for a poisonous noxious weed. Night before last I happened to wake up at 4 o'clock. Laying there, these flowers came to mind. So I headed out to see jimsonweed in its full glory. Guess what? Wildflowers are hard to find in the dark. And I didn't remember the spot as well as I thought. So, another day trip to check, and this shot was from 11:30 last night. I hope this is fully open, because three trips is enough. These flowers are sometimes purple. This arrival from tropical America has now been seen in every state except AK and WY, and in AB, BC, MB, NB, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SK. Lenawee Co MI, 9/4/19.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
