pyrethrum daisy, Tanacetum coccineum
It's always fun to find a new flower. This pyrethrum daisy was the first one found wild in Michigan. I'm not sure who spotted it first on that Botany Club outing to Brockway Mountain on the Keweenaw Peninsula. It's a great place for native flowers, and somebody obviously planted a flower garden there long ago. Pyrethrum daisy was one of the holdovers. This species has been used for centuries as an natural insecticide. It works! It has been reported wild from AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, MA, ME, MI, VT, NB, and ON. Keweenaw Co MI, 7/12/14.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
