hairy goldenrod, Solidago hispida
Hairy goldenrod tends to show up in woods, in spots where it gets some occasional sun. In my experience, woodland goldenrods tend towards larger flower heads and smaller plants. Don't know why that would be. It seems like the usual masses of small golden flowers would attract their helpers wherever they go. Hairy goldenrod grows in AL, AR, CT, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD(X), ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WI, WV, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SK. Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
