ballhead ragwort, Senecio sphaerocephalus
Ballhead? Not really all that round. But with so many species of Senecio, it's not easy to come up with a different common name for each. Or even the right one. For people who like to puzzle them out, these can be a great source of head scratchers. Then they change the names! Senecio was once the largest genus of plants. Now it's been split. Only problem is most of these grow in the west, so too often I have to settle for another sudoku book from Border's. Ballhead grows in CO, ID, MT, NV, UT, and WY. Ouray Co CO, 6/22/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
