sticky currant, Ribes viscosissimum
Some of us like mushrooms, some of us don't. Same with these currants, apparently. Sticky currants are very sticky and aromatic, except for the berries. Those have a waxy coat and many sources describe them as unpalatable. Others disagree. So I guess you try them for yourself! This shrub is available for gardens, planted in borders and where the birds it attracts can be observed. Sticky currants grow in mountain thickets in AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY, AB, and BC. Summit Co CO, 6/19/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
