annual phlox, Phlox drummondii
For some reason this image appealed to me today more than a closer shot. Tired of close ups? Actually, annual or Drummond's phlox is a little different than most of its relatives anyway. It's an annual that comes in brighter colors than other more pastel phlox. Its attractive and easy in gardens. Originally from Texas, it has now been recorded from at least AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, NB, and ON, most commonly on roadsides. Alachua Co FL, 1/28/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
