sawtooth sunflower, Helianthus grosseserratus
Sawtooth is another of the perennial sunflowers. Not as large as the annual common sunflowers, but very showy in their own way. A welcome sight along our roads and in fields. Sawtooth grows in AR, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NH, NJ, NM< NY, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, WV, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 8/30/12.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
