merrybells, Uvularia sessilifolia
Merrybells, or often wild oats or sessile bellwort. Whatever its name, it's a pretty little flower of mid spring woodlands. The Cherokee used this occasionally as poultices for external ailments, less often they ate the greens. They also used it as a charm to bring deer close to the hunter. Merrybells grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, MS, NB, NS, ON, and QC. Beal Gardens, Michigan State U., 5/3/13.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
