jio, Commelina bengalhensis
Jio, also called Bengal dayflower, has all the bases covered. It can produce stems that thrive in dry soil, in water, and even underground. It reproduces with unisexual flowers, bisexual flowers, flowers that self-fertilize and don't open, or vegetatively. The underground stems only produce flowers that don't open. Not surprising that it has spread around the tropical world from Asia. With us it is mostly in dry weedy areas in CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, NC, and VA. Polk Co FL, 3/18/16.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
