rice button aster, Symphyotrichum dumosum
Aster flower heads typically have yellow flowers at the center when they open. Those mostly change to purple as they age. Sort of like a botanical Red Hat Society. If you haven't read the poem that inspires them, Warning by Jenny Joseph, go do it now! (https://www.poemhunter.com/poem/warning) Doesn't matter if you're a guy, same concept still works. Bushy asters grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, and ON. Ives Fen Preserve, Lenawee Co MI, 9/7/12. Aster family, Asteraceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
