veiny dock, Rumex venosus
Barb, looking over my shoulder, "Whats that?"
"Veiny dock, from the last time at Great Sand Dunes. These fruit are actually prettier than the flowers."
Barb, "Ugly!"
"But interesting, witness this conversation."
"Yeah?"
The fruit here are what you will almost always see of this. It's sometimes called wild begonia because of this look. This was the only time I've seen it, so we don't have the option of flowers. Veiny dock grows in mostly sandy areas, and has become a pasture weed, in CA, CO, IA, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, WY, AB, MB, and SK. Great Sand Dunes National Park, Saguache Co CO, 6/24/13. Buckwheat family, Polygonaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
