chickpea milk-vetch, Astragalus cicer
Chickpea milk-vetch is one of those legumes used as a rotation fodder crop and to rehabilitate disturbed areas. It's a hardy plant, used more in the west where conditions are harsher and soils more difficult. It has so far been reported wild from AK, CA, CO, IA, ID, IN, MI, MN, MT, NE, NM, NV, UT, WA, WI, WY, AB, BC, MB, ON, QC, and YT. Johnson Co IA, 6/15/13. Pea family, Fabaceae.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
