Thrift, sometimes called sea thrift or sea pink, is very much a coastal species. It thrives in northern coastal areas, including salt marshes, and can sometimes be found on inland rocky areas. It has become a popular rock garden plant. Thrift occurs in AK, CA, CO, OR, PA, WA, BC, LB, MB, NF, NT, NU, ON, QC, SK, YT, and GL; Eurasia and South America. Beal Gardens, MSU, 5/27/14.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
