Walter's groundcherry, Physalis walteri
Walter's groundcherry is set apart from others of its kind by the velvety feel of the plant, and by the lack of defined dark areas in the throat of the corolla. Walter's berries are said to rival tomatillos in taste, and have also been compared to strawberries. I'll believe it when I taste it! Be careful, the plant and unripe fruit are toxic. This species grows in open areas in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and VA. Brevard Co FL, 1/27/13. Nightshade family, Solanaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
