summer grape, Vitis aestivalis
This image was in the same folder as yesterday's grass, and I couldn't resist. I really enjoy grape flower images. More than I do the real thing. Strange to feel like this isn't the real thing. In the wild, with the naked eye, grape flowers tend to look like uninteresting little bunches of fluff. You will probably find a blooming vine because of the aroma, before you spot any flowers. Grapes are wind pollinated, but Aeolus doesn't much care about aromas, so I suspect bugs also play a role. Summer grape grows in AL, AR, CA, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME(E), MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, and ON. Ives Fen Preserve, Lenawee Co MI, 6/16/14.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
