Seaside? This image is from a spot a little over 9000 feet altitude. Turns out this is a plant of boreal and alpine areas, and farther south in North America. This one was on a mudflat exposed by a low reservoir. Seaside buttercup gets the 'cymbalaria' specific from Kenilworth ivy, which was called Cymbalaria by the Romans, and now by the scientific, as Cymbalaria muralis. The vegetative parts of the plants are similar, the flowers very different. Seaside ranges from Finland west to Alaska, south in the New World to Patagonia, with two very disjunct populations in the Himalayas. With us it is in AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT(E), ID, IA, IL(E), KS, MA, ME, MI(T), MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ(E), NM, NV, NY(E), OK, OR, PA, RI(X), SD, TX, UT, WA, WI(T), WY, in all of Canada, and on GL and SPM.
