bracted colicroot, Aletris bracteata
Bracted colicroot is a genuine rarity. It occurs in the two most southern counties in Florida, and on two islands in the Bahamas. It is an endangered species. These bumpy little flowers are about a third of an inch long, on spikes up to a couple of feet tall. Everglades National Park, Miami Dade Co , FL, 3/20/16. Bunchflower family, Melanthiaceae.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
