corn gromwell, Buglossoides arvensis
When is a weed not a weed? When it increases tissue long-chain n-3 fatty acid content! Corn gromwell is a common weed of agriculture, now coming into cultivation itself. It has been discovered that it produces just about the healthiest of vegetable oils. The oil from these seeds has been compared favorably to that of flax seed. Its cultivation is mostly being explored in its native Europe. Here it grows wild in every state except AK, AZ, HI, NM, and NV, and in BC, MB, NS, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/7/11. Borage family, Boraginaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
