golden star lily, Erythronium rostratum
USDA calls this yellow troutlily. But where I was yesterday they call it golden star lily. Since yellow troutlily also can apply to another species, I'll use the more fanciful name. This species differs from all others of the genus in that the flowers, when fully open, face sideways or even a little upward. These were still in the process of waking up. It grows in AL, AR, KS, KY(S), LA, MO, MS, OH(E), OK, TN(S), and TX. Gladys Riley Golden Star Lily Preserve, Scioto Co OH, 3/30/20. Lily family, Liliaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
