buttonsage, Lantana involucrata
Think of Lantana as a pan-tropical ornamental weed? Isn't it fun to know there's a native species? Not as colorful as its sib, but also not quite as assertive. This aromatic shrub fits requirements for a medicinal plant; easy to find and identify and aromatic. Apparently it just doesn't do much. Buttonsage grows mostly in coastal areas. It is native in Bermuda and the Galapagos, and just about everywhere between. With us it is in Florida. Lee Co FL, 1/24/13. Vervain family, Verbenaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
