tinted woodland spurge, Euphorbia commutata
The first stop on the Ohio excursion was Chateau Nivale Preserve. Tinted spurge was the first fun new flower. Fun? This genus has twice sent me to the ER with severe eye irritation from handling them. But it's always fun to see new flowers, and that's particularly true if it is a threatened species back home in Michigan. It's hard to say why anyone sees tints here. It's pretty monochromatic. But the structure of the inflorescence with cups in cups is terrific. Tinted woodland spurge grows in AL, AR, FL(E), GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MI(T), MN, MO, MS, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV, and ON. Adams Co OH, 4/20/20. Spurge family, Euphorbiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
