miniature lupine, Lupinus bicolor
Miniature maybe for a lupine, but not as diminutive as many flowers seen here. The flower spike can get up to three inches tall. This one in the garden here gave the impression it would have preferred to be in California, and went all in with only three flowers. Lupines can be tricky to grow because of the microbes they like to associate with. Miniature lupine is at home in AZ, CA, OR, WA, and BC. Cultivated, Lenawee Co MI, 6/24/16. Bean family, Fabaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
