common wood rush, Luzula multiflora
Common wood rush has a bit of a troubled past. It's picked up some aliases, Luzula campestris, L. frigida, L. intermedia, L. kobayasii, L. sudetica, or L. echinata. This particular specimen happened to be right in a ray of sunshine, making a irresistible shot even without petals and color. Those fuzzy pistils will do just fine. Common wood rush grows in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, IA, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, in all provinces, and on GL and SPM. Ives Fen Preserve, Lenawee Co MI, 5/25/20. Rush family, Juncaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
