largeflower valerian, Valeriana pauciflora

Right now in the Appalachian hills you can see largeflowered valerians. It's a woodland species, up to three feet tall, with flowers an inch long. Those flowers may be a little more pink than those shown here. It's probably visited by butterflies, but often is self pollinated.
